Fairy Tale Lies (Opposites Attract) By: DK Marie

Johnny- Thank you for taking the time to talking to me today, I’m in love with your book Fairy Tale Lies,  I’m also a huge fan of your Twitter poetry and IG poetry reading, if you could only pick one to describe yourself, would you call yourself  a writer or a poet?

DK- A writer. I’ve been writing books for a few years now, whereas poetry is much newer to me. I’m more confident and comfortable as a writer. However, I find poetry very rewarding and inspiring. Mine focuses solely on emotions, and it allows me to either release pent-up feelings or to use them to motivate them to fuel my daily writing. In fact, each morning, I begin with poetry to get the creative juices flowing, then switch to my WIP. (Work in Process book).

Johnny- I’m currently reading Love Songs (not wanting to give any spoiler away) but, it about a rock and roll band and relationship between the singer and lead guitarist, your description of the members of the band and normal tension that exist in that element is pretty spot on, now when I read Fairy Tale Lies, your dealing in a corporate world, once again, spot on, my question is do you have past or current experience in the either of these or was it just well researched?

DK-Some are from experience, most from meticulous research and asking knowledgeable people. For example, in Love Songs, I had two musicians read it to help with mistakes. I also contacted a CPA to make sure those scenes in that book were accurate.

With Fairy Tale Lies, the research was less as their careers were more in the background of the story and also similar to my own. With FTL, my research focus was more on location accuracy. Petite Bois was fictional, but the rest of the places are real, located in Michigan, and I wanted everything to be accurate. That research was fun. Letting me revisit places I’ve been to, but focusing more on surrounding, small details.

Johnny- I’d like to talk poetry for a moment, I’ve read some of your poems that deal with human interaction and sexuality, I’ve also read some that are just as desirable dealing with nature and other thought-provoking notions, what inspires the Poet inside of you?

DK- Emotions and people inspire me. Sometimes the feelings and thoughts are my own; other times, I gather them from strangers, loved ones, music, and even places.

Johnny- How many books have you published?

Dk- Two, with another one coming out in July. (The third book of the Opposites Attract Series)

Johnny- Do you have any off-limit topics that you just refuse to write about?

DK- Nope. Stories allow us to explore any topic we wish. Either to be entertained, to live vicariously through them, or to learn about new and different experiences. I don’t want to be closed off to anything.  Also, for me, I never have an issue with any topic, but do in how it’s presented.

For example, in a few of my books, drug addiction plays a minor (and major one, in an upcoming book) role in the story. I’ve read books where it’s treated as a fun game without consequences, or worse that those who become addicts are weak and just need to “man-up.” See, as a topic, it should be explored. It is prevalent in our society, and many readers would relate or want to understand the struggles. As such, treating it like a simple bad habit or a conflict easy to overcome is a disservice to the reader. If an author is going to tackle a serious or taboo issue, they should make sure they understand their topic (and do their research first).

Johnny- At what age did you first discover that you wanted to be a writer?

DK- It was recent, in the last five to seven years. I’ve always loved to read but didn’t think I’d be able to write a whole book from start to finish. I gave it a try and wrote a complete story in about a month (It was awful, drowning in adverbs and plot holes, but I could do it. From there, I immersed myself in writing and improving my craft, writing Fairy Tale Lies).

Johnny – Where do you draw your inspiration from?

DK – Everywhere. However, my stories and music are the biggest ones. When I say my stories, I mean the characters in them. For example, as I wrote Fairy Tale Lies, the secondary characters became more alive and demanded their stories. Tanner’s quiet, internal struggle begged to be told, so I did and wrote Love Songs.

As for music, songs help set the tone of my writing (both novels and poetry). I also hear stories in the lyrics and melodies. For instance, the idea for the third book was born when I was idly listening to music. Before then, I knew I wanted to write Will’s story (Jacob’s brother from Fairy Tale Lies), but hearing this particular song gave me a burst of inspiration and a rough idea on how to do it.

Johnny- What are you doing during this covid-19 era we are experiencing? Are you self-quarantining?

DK- Cases are rapidly on the rise in Michigan. I don’t want to become part of the problem, so, yes, I am self-quarantining. To keep the stress of uncertainty at bay, I’m doing lots of reading and writing. Both keep me very busy and stop me from going stir-crazy. I also have plenty of projects at home to keep me occupied and a camera by my side for walks around the neighborhood and parks within driving distance.

Johnny- What is your biggest take away from this corvid-19 situation we are in?

DK – Since we are still going through it, it’s hard to say. I guess, enjoy the simple moments. The joy of reading a good book, or watching spring bloom as we take solitary walks (or with our families). Also, and most importantly, plan for the long term, but don’t forget to enjoy today, because who-the-hell knows what tomorrow will bring.

Johnny – What have you got planned for future projects? Anything in the works?

DK – I have a few things in the works. As mentioned above, I have the third book of the Opposites Attract series coming out in July. I’ve also finished the fourth story, and it releases sometime in the start of 2021.

As for future projects, I’m writing a loose outline for a new series and have begun character development for the first book. Once I have most of that written, I would love to write a romantic suspense. I actually have most of the outline for it written. It was a fun experiment I’d tried on Twitter in 2019. Every day that year, I wrote a small flash-fiction piece of the story, each day moving it along, but at the end of December 31, 2019, I had my three main characters, most of the conflict, and eighty percent of the story. Now those characters are demanding center stage, and I can’t wait to give it to them.

REVIEW

FAIRY TALE LIES

What a pleasant surprise this book had turned out to be.

If you like well written romance with a good story line and interesting characters then you need to look no further. DK Marie does everything right in her debut novel, Fairy Tale Lies. Having recently started reading romance this book would have been enough to get anyone addicted to the genre.

Filled with sexy people, relatable relationships, and real world connection her narrative never slips, when the steam is turned up the sex scenes are enough to leave a body aching for relief.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

There was a moment when I had first started reading this book that I realized that this was as refreshing to me as my favorite television program, there was no effort absorbing the situation as the chapters opened up before my eyes, when an introduction was made I felt as though I have known the person already. It was just a pure joy to be living in the moment of this romantic adventure.

I’m giving Fairy Tale Lies 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars as well as 5 stars to this amazing author, DK Marie.

Highly recommend this book to anyone not afraid of a little heat, but desires to be left a little bothered and craving more. A debut novel from an amazing woman, poet, and writer who has a voice and is not afraid to use it. I loved it!

POP REVIEW

LOVE SONGS

Just finished book two of DK Marie’s Opposites Attract series and before I get started please let me say that I’m relatively new to reading romance novels and I was a little nervous starting Love Songs right after finishing Fairy Tale Lies. Well… shame on me.

What I carelessly forgot was DK Marie is an amazing writer and her story telling abilities greatly surpasses a single genre.

I’m in awe by her abilities…

Entering this world I felt the energy, tension, and passion of a rock and roll band. The descriptive narrative pulled me in while the chemistry penned out before my eyes silently stole my heart.❤ Desirable dialogue along with a well structured characters did everything right to sell me on this book, believable situations matched the day to day challenges facing a touring band and when the chemistry was right DK brought out the flame thrower with sex that is guaranteed to make you ache, (in all the good ways).

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I’m giving Love Songs 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars, it’s gritty, sexy and full of passion, most of all it was fun to read.

DK Marie is a total class act, her writing has made me a fan for life, I am so excited to see what the future holds from this amazing individual!

The Girl With the Blue Feathered Earring By: Curvy Red Gurl

It was about a year ago when I first came across Amberdawn on Twitter, I started following her and she eventually she followed me back.

What started then was a friendship that I treasure dearly. Amberdawn is a poetess, singer, model, photographer, and civil rights activist. She’s independent and works hard daily, not only in her community but also developing her online brand.

Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado allow me to present:

Amberdawn, The Curvy Red Gurl.

The Girl With The Blue Feathered Earring

Staring into racks of old dreams and new expectations
colorful things with hidden stains in places only speaking of pasta remains.
I turned the corner and came across, her I probably should not tell you this story
there I go doubting myself again but the way I saw her some might say was objectification.
To me she was the muse I had been missing the ebony skin of eternal galaxies starlight vision
To me she was the muse I had been missing the ebony skin of eternal galaxies starlight vision
she had a blue feathered earring, one hand on an orange summer dress
fingers hidden in a sily fabric, the other a delicately sculpted set of phalanges
bringing her palm past her perfectly aligned neck
her blue feathered earring fluttered.
Thick black hair braided into a rose on the top of her head
like a fairy she sparkled.
Who needs a painting of a girl with a pearl earring
here was a flawless Queen & a blue feathered earring fluttering gently.
She was midnight moon & morning sun
her voice a recovery tonic after to many drinks.
I was in AWE, I stood there silently listening to her speak
hypnotized by that blue feathered earring.
I surveyed her beauty like she was a map & I a TOPOGRAPHY STUDENT
each curve suggesting a destination & a CAUSE
she was beauty incarnate & I WANTED TO GET LOST!
Her lips heart shaped pink vibration slightly glossed with strawberry sedation
For the moment of pause I dared to think what it would be like to feel that braid
to move across my breasts as her lips discovered places only lovers touch
The moment was brief but oh so sweet
as that little Feminist would not shut up & kept SCREAMING STOP OBJECTIFYING HER!
To me she will always be The Girl With The Blue Feathered Earring.

The Missing-

Rolling with the times they keep changing like rhymes
got a dictionary on the floor and a thesaurus by the door.
The wind blows you might get a little more
but stand to close and she'll run off leaving the chores.
Your socks on the floor where you threw them each night
she was tired of the fight, at least of feeling alone, right?

So one day she packed a cheap bag, upped & ran like a fright.
You came home strawberries in hand hoping to set things straight
it's the honeymoon cycle tonight.
Seeing her gone brought the usual rage
the only thing left, the smell of her shampoo
now what is a man supposed to do when he only knows how to be cruel?
The one that he wanted has run away & still he responds
his emotionless play.
Processing through pure fury & pain he'll never let her get away.

The wife he was knocking took her boots & went a walking,
the neighbors say it was the sound of the cocking
& to soon she was found in an unmarked grave.
When a young pup came upon her the very next spring
and it seemed her bones had weathered and been eaten away.
Gnaw marks of coyotes & possibly a bear.
When we come upon the scars of man we question the where,
the why and the when, the asking of is there a God?
Are you there, my friend?

Choices -

Life in the attic It’s where I live now.
Choices I have made this bed I now lay.
A consequence, or grave?
Reminders of love, who tells us how,
Is there an instruction book I missed?
Was it handed out while I daydreamed of being kissed?
These answers escape me,
I might be having a sad day.
In this attic, where I live now.

To Love or Not to Love-

We come from every corner, we travel across the globe.
We are united in our needs but separated by our beliefs.
We want to connect and many of us do
but we still hold back from loving the way we were meant too.

-Amberdawn (Curvy Red Gurl)

The Cure-

Got a brand-new grind
making time to get what's mine
not gonna stand behind
any gas-lighting narcissistic kinds.
Been around longer than they said I would
doing my thing and looking good.
It's my happy time
time to show some minds
more to me than meets the eye
express some gratitude for sure
dive deep to share the cure.

Poetry Reading: The Girl With the Blue Feather Earring

Review

I have no words that can come close to describing my admiration to Amberdawn. I knew from the first time I seen her read her poetry and heard her sing on YouTube that she was special.

❤❤❤❤❤

After a few communications online my respect and admiration for her Independence, her spirit, and her talent grew. Such energy, such enthusiasm, she is the embodiment of Iggy Pops Lust for life. Although she hasn’t published a book (yet) her music can be purchased and downloaded on most online streaming services.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

If her body of work was in print, resting between two book covers she would be getting a 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me on Goodreads and Amazon. As of now it is not, hopefully one day it will happen because she has so many amazing talents that the world needs right now!

🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I can’t stop singing her praises, I am a fan!!

If you haven’t checked her out you should. Please see the links below.

You can follow Amberdawn on her variety of social media outlets. She is a hard working lady and you will not be disappointed.
